What Has Been Said About Fortune-tellers and Their Like

Muslim has narrated, on the authority of one of the wives of the Prophet (Hafsah - may Allah be pleased with her), that Allah's Prophet said:

"Whoever went to a fortune-teller and asked him about some matter (i.e. of the unseen) and believed him, will have his prayer rejected for forty days."

In this class we continue with the section regarding the events of the 11th year after the hijrah, during the khilaafa of Abu Bakr radhiyAllahu 'anhu, and the death of Musaylamah al-Kathaab (the liar).

In this class we continue in the chapter of At-Taqwaa with the hadith:

`Adi bin Hatim At-Ta'i (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alaihi wa sallam) say:

"He who has taken an oath (to do something) but found something else better than that (which brings him closer to Allah), then he should do that which is better in piety (and he should expiate for the breaking of oath)". [Muslim].

Explanation of 40 Hadeeth An-Nawawi

This class was given on Sunday, April 28, 2013.

From the book Al-Minhatu Ar-Rabbaaniyah Fee Sharh Al-Arba'een An-Nawawiyah by Shaikh Saalih Al-Fawzaan.

In this class, we begin the explanation of hadeeth #17

On the authority of Abu Ya’la Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Verily Allah has prescribed ihsan (proficiency, perfection) in all things. So if you kill then kill well; and if you slaughter, then slaughter well. Let each one of you sharpen his blade and let him spare suffering to the animal he slaughters.” It was related by Muslim.

عَنْ أَبِي يَعْلَى شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم قَالَ: "إنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ الْإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، فَإِذَا قَتَلْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الْقِتْلَةَ، وَإِذَا ذَبَحْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الذِّبْحَةَ، وَلْيُحِدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ شَفْرَتَهُ، وَلْيُرِحْ ذَبِيحَتَهُ".
رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ [رقم:1955].

Clarification of a Number of Types of Sorcery

An-Nasaa`i reports on the authority of Abu Hurairah (Radhi Allaahu Anhu) that he said:

"Whoever tied a knot and blew on it has committed an act of sorcery, and whoever commits an act of sorcery has committed an act of Shirk, and whoever wore an amulet will be left to its control."
